Backbending Workshop - Paddy Hamill

When we practice backbends we lengthen the muscles in the front body, open from the heart centre and strengthen the muscles of the back body. Physically and emotionally we need to move with awareness, to be mindful of how we initiate movement and to ensure that all movement is breath led.

These poses have a stimulating effect on how we feel – they energize and empower! 

Preparation is the key to unlocking `difficult` poses and for this reason we will work on opening up the joints and energetic pathways linked to back bends in a sequential and effective way to explore your personal parameters in a safe practice.

We will be practicing a strong Suryanamaskara backbending focussed sequence to generate heat before utilizing props and partner work to further develop some of the stronger backbends including Urdhva Danurasana ( Wheel ).

This workshop is not suitable for beginners and you should have a minimum of 1 years strong and consistent yoga practice.
