Ladies Well-Being & Menopause - Collette Fee Gaffney

This well-being and menopause series of classes will be offered over 6 weeks on Tuesday mornings commencing 14th September.

Each week we will explore the menopause journey in terms of the hormonal changes taking place, roles of the sex hormones, common health concerns, the changing needs of a woman’s body, with regards to exercise, the importance of nutrition and rest.

  • This course aims to support women and is suitable for those that are pre / peri or post-menopausal.  In this course you will learn how to support and nurture your body.  It is suitable for all ladies whether you are taking HRT or adopting a natural approach.  Collette will share advice on dealing with common symptoms such as hot flushes, insomnia, night sweats, anxiety, stress, and urogenital issues including vaginal dryness and discomfort.
  • The course will help remind you of the importance of adapting to the changes taking place in our body and the importance of self-care.
  • Each class will include all aspects of a traditional yoga class including relaxation, poses to assist with strengthening and balancing (you will learn how to adapt the poses to suit your own body to ensure you are safe and still benefit from the practice).  The focus of our poses is designed to promote muscle tone and bone density (including isometric stretches with or without resistance bands) and learn the importance of bone health during our journey.
  • Pelvic floor maintenance is another key area so let’s get to know this part of our body and how you can support it! 
  • We will also explore restorative yoga poses that are very beneficial.  Restorative yoga provides us with the opportunity to slow down in our fast-paced lives.
  • Guided mindfulness & meditation (with elements of cognitive behavioural therapy).
  •  Breathing exercises to assist us especially if we experience hot flushes.


DATE: Commencing Tuesday 14th September for 6 consecutive weeks.

TIME: 9.30am - 11.00am

About Collette:

Collette first started practicing yoga in 2007 and has completed her 200-hour teacher training program at Santosha Yoga Studio. Since then, she has successfully completed YAP certified diplomas in Yoga for athletes; Yoga for Children; Yoga for Pregnancy and Labour; First Aid and more recently Yoga for Menopause Well-Being.

Collette’s classes are designed to teach clients a practice that is safe, irrespective of how fit you are.  She believes that one of the important things about yoga is that unlike most physical sports you can start at any age. You do not need to be physically fit or active to take up yoga and she is delighted to share the Ladies well-being & menopause yoga course this autumn in the Studio.
