This system of yoga is about adaptation. Developed by Krishnamacharya and carried on by his son - T.K.V Desikachar it respects the needs, limitations and ability of it`s practitioners. It can be gentle but not necessarily so. There is a strong emphasis on alignment and if the students is capable the intensity of the practice can be increased. The poses are held for a consistent number of breaths and a class will typically involve asana, pranayama and meditation. Intergration of the flow of the breath and movement of the spine through thoughtful sequencing are characteristics of this system of yoga.
